Do you like to jump, run, or sprint? Well Track is here, and Fallon’s track team is more excited than ever! Track is one of Fallon’s best sports, thanks to the hardworking athletes and the amazing coaches: Mr. Branson, Mrs. Sherret, and Ms. Tomilloso. The girls have been champions for 2, and the guys following up with a strong 4 consecutive years!
There are many different events you can run in track, and you can choose what you prefer and what you are best at. Fallon’s coaches like to split everything up into 3 groups, short distance (100 meter and 200 meter), middle distance (400 meter and 800 meter), and long distance (1600 meter). Most students who don’t know what they want to choose like to start off with middle distance because they want to see where they are in running at first.
A 7th grader, Alexis Nieto, who is on Fallon’s track team and has been on it for two years said, “I like track because it helps me improve my running and I can get in shape and exercise. I also love to do it with my best friends.” What Alexis is saying is that track at Fallon is not only helping her stay in shape but also stay healthy, and to top it all off you’re still having fun with your friends.
Another student, Kaelyn Blackwell, an 8th grader at Fallon loves track and she says that, “It helps me improve my running for basketball and my sprinting.” Track helps many athletes in their second sports, which is great, you can work on something you love and get better at it doing something else you like to do like running during track meets or practices.
The track championship is coming up on May 17th, 5:00 at Dublin High School, so make sure you go cheer on your fellow classmates and let's go mustangs with another championship win for both girls and boys!
