Happy Holidays! 2015 is coming to an end, and the seasons are shifting wonderfully. All of the glorious memories you’ve experienced during this year are remembered, all of the new things brought to your life embraced.
And the most nostalgic of these events of 2015? The ending of the year, and the beginning of 2016, of course!
New Year’s can be celebrated in many ways, all depending on what your family’s traditions are and whatnot. Families gather together to reminisce about the year and congratulate each other for their accomplishments.
Let’s take a quick rewind through 2015:
January: The U.S. Supreme Court declined to Hear Louisiana’s Same-Sex Marriage Case. (But we all know that they eventually agreed to, and approved of same-sex marriage!)
February: The popular television show, “Parks and Recreation,” had its’ series finale, concluding the show with 125 episodes. The show starred Chris Pratt and Amy Poehler.
March: The first eclipse of 2015 occured, there being 4 in 2015. Also, the super new moon blocked the sun on the same day. (March 20th)
April: Hillary Clinton announced Second Bid for President. Marco Rubio, U.S. Senator, also announced his candidacy.
May: The popular band, Twenty One Pilots, released their fourth studio album, “Burryface.” Twenty One Pilots is an alternative hip hop musical duo who began their musical career in 2009 in their hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
June: The Pixar production, “Inside Out,” was released. The movie was ridiculously popular and was applauded by all ages.
July: South Carolina removed their Confederate Flag, ending 54 years of it being on display at the Capitol.
August: Republicans held their first 2016 Presidential Debate in Cleveland, Ohio. The debate featured the top ten candidates in the polls, including Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and John Kasich.
September: Multiple massive wildfires raged in California. Three wildfires were burning in California.
October: China ended their one-child policy after 35 years. They now allow all married couples to have two children, supposedly as a way to offset the country’s aging workforce.
November: Adele’s very popular album, 25, was released. This is Adele’s 3rd album produced, and it’s been 4 years since she was musically active. The world is in love with the album, regardless.
December: Oakland Zoo will be having ZooLights, a light show being held from December 4, 2015 all the way to January 3, 2016. If you haven’t already, you still have the opportunity to watch the show!
In conclusion, 2015 was a pretty historical year, it being half a decade to 2020. The Fallon Journalism Class would like to wish all a very happy New Year, and good to come!
