Do you like music? Do you like to play instruments? Meet some of Fallon’s Star Musicians: Christopher Lu (7th Grade), Adora Wen (7th Grade), Kenny Won (8th Grade), and Matthew Chi (8th Grade).
Christopher Lu:
Q : What instrument do you play?
A : I play the cello.
Q: How long have you been performing in front of a live audience?
A: I have been playing the cello for six years.
Q: Where have you played and where was the first place you played in front of people?
A: In first grade at a talent show.
Q: What are some of your achievements?
A: I’ve gotten into the all-state orchestra and gotten first and second place at a few competitions.
Adora Wen:
Q: What instrument do you play?
A: I play the clarinet.
Q: Why did you start playing the instrument?
A: Actually my 6th grade music teacher inspired me and encouraged me to start playing the clarinet.
Q: Where have you played and where was the first place you played in front of people?
A: I think the last place I had to compete or, play in was Palo Alto so… not exactly close to here.
Q: When did you start playing an instrument?
A: I started playing in 6th grade, so about a year now.
Q: Who was your role model/what was your inspiration for becoming so talented?
A: Oh yeah, my band teacher was my role model and taught me everything I needed to know about playing the clarinet, and he taught me a lot…
Kenny Won:
Q: What instrument do you play?
A: The violin.
Q: When did you start playing the instrument?
A: For five years.
Q: How long have you been performing in front of a live audience?
A: Not a long time really.
Q: Where have you played, where was the first place you played in front of people.
A: It was at the Pleasanton Church.
Q: Who was your role model/what was your inspiration for becoming so talented?
A: It was Isaac Rolin, the best violinist in the world.
Matthew Chi:
Q: What instrument do you play?
A: I play the alto-saxophone.
Q: Why did you start playing the instrument?
A: I started getting interested in jazz in 5th grade and I also started listening to Kenny G.
Q: How long have you been performing in front of a live audience?
A: I’ve been playing about 2-3 years.
Q: Where have you played?
A: It was in elementary school when I played Under the Sea from Little Mermaid.
Q: When did you start playing an instrument?
A: I started somewhere in 3rd grade.
Q: Who was your role model/what was your inspiration for becoming so talented?
A: Kenny G. and my music teacher.
Q: What awards have you received playing the alto-saxophone?
A: One of my biggest achievements was when I was accepted into all-state (Alto-Sax).
