In a recent interview, I got to know the principal who runs this campus, Sheri Sweeney of Fallon Middle School.
Sheri Sweeney grew up in Texas and Oklahoma. Her favorite things about school growing up were the projects her class was able to create. Mrs. Sweeney attended the University of Tulsa, Yale, and Chapman University. She wanted to be a principal because she wanted to support kids in learning and enjoyed teaching. Her first school was here at Fallon, and she has been a principal here for three years now. Mrs. Sweeney’s favorite thing about Fallon? The kids and staff. When I asked her what her ambitions for the school were, she told me that she wants Fallon to be a place where kids have fun and learn at the same time. Mrs. Sweeney also hopes her staff and students wake up eager to come everyday. A principal faces many struggles, and what she informed me is that finding time to meet everyone’s needs and to spend time in classrooms are some problems she occasionally comes across. Finally, I wanted to know a little bit about outside her life as a principal, and she told me she loves to read, garden, and travel. She also has two kids, Eric and Sarah. Eric is currently a junior in high school, and Sarah is a freshman at UCLA. What did I gather the most from this interview? Mrs.Sweeney is a kind person and a great principal, and I was very fortunate to get the opportunity to ask her some questions.
