Imagine you live in Ancient Egypt. Well, lived. You’d know a lot about mummification, the Gods, and more. The 6th graders at Fallon didn’t have to imagine. They watched a whole presentation on it. We interviewed two students, Alex and Harshimar, to see how they felt about it.
Soumya: How did you guys like the presentation?
Harshimar: It was great! He was a funny guy. He knew how to get the students’ attention.
Alex: He wasn’t just a boring person just standing there giving a speech. He was very exciting person to be in front of because he was always up on our toes and listening
Belle: What did you learn? What was your favorite part?
Harshimar: About the gods was my favorite part. Some of them Ms.Tuthill didn’t even mention to us so that was cool. Also the artifacts that were more than 1,000 years old was exciting. That’s older than my great grandma! I found it so interesting that we had the experience to do that, not many people do.
Alex: The amulets that she showed us were pretty cool. I liked that they seemed to have a lot of potential and had a lot of religious importance. I enjoyed the fact that we got poked with sticks. It made me actually pay attention.
Soumya: Would you watch it again?
Harshimar: I would. No matter how many times, I would definitely watch it.
Alex: I would too, it is super exciting.
Belle: What would you rate this? (out of ten)
Harshimar: TEN
Alex: A nine because he made it fun, but I’m still not too interested in Egypt.
So clearly, these two students really liked this presentation! Read on to find out about Mr. Johnson, the presenter and guy who made it possible for Fallon to have this great show. We asked Mr. Johnson a few questions about him and his business, Ancient Artifacts. He has been doing this doing this job for 19 years! His company has ten different programs for 4th to 8th graders. When asking him for his favorite thing about it, he replied saying that he loved the kids’ reactions. He said that even though he does the same thing over and over again, the kids always respond differently. Also, that making them laugh and learn at the same time is really fun. Mr. Johnson decided to teach history because he thought it was really important. It is because we get to know where we come from and to get a prediction of where we’re going. We can learn things about what’s going to happen because history always tells us one thing: human nature doesn’t change.”
