So you think you can dance? Wait until you see Talia Southon, a fellow student at Fallon, dance! Although Talia is Polynesian, she does Tahitian, Hawaiian, Maori, Tongan and Samoan dances.
She was born in Samoa and grew up around the dancing culture as she started dancing when she was two years old. She does monthly competitions with two traveling teams called “Le Ala” and “Laman Generation”.
She has been dancing her whole life and she’s in love with it. Dancing is a way she releases stress and expresses her feelings. Her dance teams are not local ,they are WORLDWIDE! That’s right worldwide! She's traveled to most of the states in the U.S. ,Hawaii, Korea, Fiji, Australia, Brazil, Samoa, Bahamas, Tahiti, France, Tonga and Paris.
On Thursday December 3rd, 2015 Talia taught Mrs.Volks 7th period class Tahitian and Hawaiian dances. She did an amazing job not only teaching the dance but she also taught the story behind it. This is her second time teaching the dances and she’s doing great! Talia’s next competition is in Australia Dec 30-31.
