Introduction
Are you full of spirit? Are you currently enrolled in Eleanor Murray Fallon Middle School? Then this event is for you! If you haven’t heard already, Fallon Middle School celebrated its first FMS Spirit Week of the school year last month!! The next Spirit week will be around the date of the next dance, October 23, 2015. The first FMS Spirit week for the 2015-2016 school year took place on Monday, September 14, and concluded on Friday, September 18.
The Leadership Committee
The Leadership Team started FMS Spirit week in 2005, and it has taken place at Fallon for ten years. Natalie Young, the teacher for the leadership group, believes that the purpose of celebrating FMS Spirit Week is to have fun and build community. “The purpose of Spirit Week is mainly to get to know each other better”, says Mrs. Young. FMS Spirit Week is celebrated every week before a dance or at least once a month. There are about six middle school dances at Fallon Middle School.
Spirit Week Days
The spirit day on Monday, September 14th, was Crazy Socks Day, where students got to express their spontaneous by wearing “crazy socks” or socks that they don’t usually wear on school days. On Tuesday, September 15th, 80’s Day / Neon Day was celebrated. On this spirit day, students came to school dressed like someone from the 80’s time period, or wearing neon colored clothes. Wednesday, September 16th, was Tacky Tourist Day, when students came to school dressed as a tourist visiting from another country or state. Thursday, September 17th, was Sunglasses Day!! It was the most celebrated event. On this day, students got to break a Fallon uniform rule and wear sunglasses in class! Last but not least, on Friday we celebrated Super Fallon Spirit Day. On this day, students showed extra spirit for Fallon, and came to school wearing the Fallon school colors, blue and red. They could also wear Fallon spirit shirts. Go team!!
Rewards
At the end of each spirit day, students who participated in the event come to the Mustang store, to claim their prize, for showing spirit in their creative ways. Feeling upset you couldn’t participate? Don’t worry! There are many spirit day to come at Fallon Middle School!
